Consume or Consumed?
“Eat this scroll, then go, speak to the house of Israel.” —Ezekiel 3:1
Rebellion against the Lord entails not only doing evil but also refusing to totally consume and be consumed by His callings (Ez 2:8). We must eat the scroll of God’s plan for our lives. We must internalize it, digest it, and make it part of ourselves. As we consume God’s callings, we are consumed by God (see Heb 12:29). When we internalize God’s plan, God lives in us and we in Him (see Jn 17:23). We lose our lives (Lk 9:24), and it is no longer we who live but Christ Who lives within us (Gal 2:20). Then, paradoxically, as we lose our lives, we find our lives in Christ (Lk 9:24).
Pornography: Fighting the New Drug
National pornography education speaker Garret Jonsson shared personal testimony on his pornography addiction and the brain Science behind it with students at Guerin Catholic High School, Sept. 25.
Jonsson, presenter and ambassador for Fight the New Drug, a pornography education group, works to make inroads with young people and raise awareness of the risks involved with pornography. “It’s a movement for love, and a movement to help young people make informed decisions,” said Jonsson.
Freedom of Speech Dilemma Abated

Freedom of Speech Dilemma Abated
CARMEL, IN–The Freedom of Speech dilemma at Carmel High School has been abated at least for now.
The Carmel Teens for Life group plans to move ahead with its pro-life message now that its sign removal controversy has ended says Dina Ferchmin-Rowe who serves as club mom and pro-life educator.
Carmel Teens for Life, a pro-life club at Carmel High School which has been in existence for over a decade, drew national media attention when their pre-approved sign promoting adoption over abortion was mysteriously removed in December following a complaint by another student who described the sign as “offensive.”
Assisted Suicide Not the Answer
There is a movement in the United States to legalize Physician-Assisted Suicide (PAS) in all 50 states. Below is a perspective on Physician-Assisted Suicide that is not often heard, but one worth considering.
Also, below the video is an article I wrote on a proposal to legalize Physician-Assisted Suicide in Indiana. Yes, that’s right, in Indiana. Thankfully, it failed. The article has a lot of really troubling facts about how PAS is used in other states and countries of which most people are completely unaware.
I’d love to get your thoughts and comments on the video and article.
Blessings,
Brigid
Stewardship
Stewardship–A Story about a King and Three Servants.
The king gave three servants a talent. The first servant earned 10x what the king had given him. The second steward had earned 5x what the king had given him. And the third servant, buried the talent and gave the one talent back to the king. The king got very mad at the third steward and told him what little had been given to him would be taken away. What in the world? What does all this mean for us?
What’s a good steward?
The message God wants us to take away from this parable is to be a good steward. What does that mean? We are to be good managers with what God have given us. Our resources are not only monetary, but our time, abilities and everything. If we have a car that seats 5 people, we had better be filling up those seats. If you have a house for 10 people, you should have 10 people in there. Got a big yard? You had better be using that yard a lot. That seems kind of strict. Doesn’t it? You can see that God is very strict with this.
Real Love
St. John told Gaius to “demonstrate fidelity” (3 Jn 5) by showing real love through helping and supporting the missionaries John had sent to Gaius’ church (3 Jn 6, 8). To do this would cost Gaius not only time and money but also his reputation (see 3 Jn 10) and his membership in his local church. This is because Diotrephes, the leader of Gaius’ church, threatened to excommunicate anyone who accepted John’s missionaries (3 Jn 10).
